Wave Distro Taps Orin Portnoy For North American Sales

Wave Distro, a New Jersey-based distributor for pro audio brands including Empirical Labs, Useful Arts Audio, Whitestone Audio Instruments and Serpent Audio, has announced the addition of industry veteran Orin Portnoy as a sales representative for select brands in the U.S. and Canada.
Portnoy brings decades of experience in audio to WaveDistro, most notably from his 20-year tenure as vice president of sales and marketing for CE Distribution and before that a decade spent with New Sensor Corporation.
“I’m very excited, with over 30 years in the vacuum tube industry, to represent high-end, outboard, vacuum tube recording equipment,” Portnoy said. “What attracted me about Wave Distro is in the ‘80s I was a professional recording engineer, and then I went into sales and other elements in my life, and it’s nice to get back to [working] hands-on with recording equipment. We’re actually moving very quickly in gathering new product lines right now. We’re highlighting Useful Arts and Whitestone products, but we’re in discussions with other companies that are doing basically analog, vintage equipment with a modern flair, [which is that] it’s quieter than the original vintage equipment, though it’s still analog.”
