Ukrainian NAMM Member: ‘Stop Your Business in Russia’
Music Inc. has obtained a letter from a Ukrainian NAMM member, who wished to remain anonymous, urging the music products industry to cease business with Russia. The following is their letter:
“First of all, I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to all of you for your support towards our country and our people during these terrible times. Ukraine, as all of you already know, has been subjected to a full-scale military aggression by Russia. Ukraine is now at the forefront of the confrontation between the entire civilized world and the gone-mad armed maniac. Only together we can defeat our common enemy.
“Therefore, I call all members of NAMM — manufacturers, distributors and partners of the music industry — to join to the sanctions against the aggressor and stop the business in Russia, at least for the period of military aggression and the subsequent reconstruction of our country.
“[I believe] by continuing your business with an aggressor and terrorist state, you’re becoming an involuntary accomplice in its crime. After all, taxes paid from this business in Russia are then spent on the military budget of the aggressor-state.
“Many enterprises in our industry have already left the Russian market. These are very well-known brands, such as Sennheiser, L-Acoustic, DPA, Steinway, Neutrik, Klotz, QSC and Vic Firth. It is necessary to exert maximum pressure on the aggressor both from the civilized world and from the reasonable part of the Russian society.
“We now urge — stop your business in Russia! Together we will win!”
