Sunrise Guitars in Fayetteville, Arkansas, announced on its Facebook page on June 16 that it will be closing its doors.
The shop got its start as Ben Jack’s Arkansas Music in 1965 and moved to Fayetteville in the 1970s. It was run by Ben Jack’s family and friends after his death in 2009 because it was purchased by Don and David Nelms in 2014.
The Nelms’ moved the store into its current location and changed the name to Sunrise Guitars.
The Nelms’ shared the following message on their Facebook page regarding the closing: “We have been notified by Taylor [Guitars] and Martin [Guitars] that they will begin selling guitars and merchandise direct to the public. We have made the decision to close Sunrise Guitars before year’s end. Thank you to all of our faithful customers that have supported Sunrise Guitars for the last nine years.”
