Rice Music House Announces New Ownership, Location
Mary and Jyotindra Parekh (JP), owners of Rice Music House, have announced that they’ve entered into an agreement with Mark and Katherine Love of MK Love, Inc (dba Steinway Carolinas) to acquire the assets of Rice Music House, a 100-year-old piano dealership in Columbia, South Carolina.
The letter of intent was signed this month, and the closing of the sale is planned for June 2024. Steinway Carolinas is planning to continue its business as Rice Music House in Columbia for the foreseeable future. It will be the home of pianos by Steinway & Sons, and Steinway-designed Boston and Essex pianos, for the Columbia metropolitan area. The Love’s currently own Steinway Piano Gallery locations in Charlotte and Greensboro, North Carolina, and Greenville, South Carolina.
Longtime Rice Music House employee Robert Schaeffer and the Loves are in discussions about continuing his tenure at Rice Music House and plan to finalize the details soon.
Finally, Rice Music House has announced the address of a new location in Lexington County in Northwest Columbia. The address is: 125 Outlet Pointe Blvd, Unit D.
Mary and JP Parekh have said they will retire upon this sale of the business.
