Piano Industry Veteran David Campbell Passes Away

David Campbell, a longtime veteran of the piano industry, passed away on May 18. He was 89.

Campbell was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1935 and studied music and engineering at Tufts University. A master piano builder, Campbell designed and built both upright and grand pianos, and even held a U.S. patent in upright piano construction. Kimball, Currier, Knabe, Mason Hamlin, Chickering, Sohmer, Steinway and Pearl River pianos brands all benefited from Campbell’s keen eye for quality control and manufacturing techniques. During his time with Pearl River Pianos, Campbell helped elevate the quality of Pearl River and Ritmüller pianos.

Campbell was avid pianist and is survived by his wife, two children and their families.
