NASMD’s Council James Goldberg Passes Away

The National Association of School Music Dealers (NASMD) has announced that its legal counsel James “Jim” Goldberg passed away on Sept. 13. He braved prostate cancer and Parkinson’s for more than a decade. He was 84 years old.
NASMD members will remember his legal review presentations at the annual NASMD conventions for many years. Goldberg was a native Washingtonian who started his career as a journalist, working nights at the Washington Daily News on the sports section. He put himself through law school at night and became a respected D.C. attorney and counselor to trade associations across many industries, including our music industry. He served as president of the Capital Jewish Museum and enjoyed travel, tennis and rooting for the Washington Commanders football team.
