Mike Risko Music in Ossining, New York, held a socially distanced Small Business Saturday Curbside Market on Nov. 28. The full-line dealer welcomed fellow small businesses in its community to take part in the day-long curbside market held in its parking lot, which included many COVID-19 precautions.

“It required a lot of planning to make sure we were following all of the rules, but we required everyone to wear a mask, we spaced out hand sanitizer stations, did health checks for vendors and put socially distanced markers on the pavement with chalk,” said Miriam Risko, co-owner of Mike Risko Music.

Vendors included makers of homemade masks, blankets, a coffee truck and more. Instead of paying for a booth space, Risko asked that vendors donate to the local PTA. Throughout the full-day event, Risko estimated about 100 shoppers stopped by.

“It was nice to see people and be in a safe environment,” she said. “We did a lot of ukulele sales during the event. But even if we hadn’t sold anything, it was awesome to see people and feel safe while doing it.”
