Maxwell’s House of Music Purchases Guitar Emporium
Maxwell’s House of Music in Jefferson, Indiana, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, announced it has purchased Guitar Emporium in Louisville, Kentucky. The deal was finalized on March 4.
“Coming from my family store, Mom’s, I understood fully the value of what Guitar Emporium brand and history has, and will, offer people,” said Mark Maxwell, co-owner of Maxwell’s House of Music.
Guitar Emporium was founded in 1975 by Jimmy Brown. He sold the store 2013, and now, nine years later, the business was up for sale once again.
“For me, this is a dream come true,” said Mike McAfee, store manager of Maxwell’s House of Music. “I grew up surrounded by Jimmy Brown and his love of vintage gear, and it had a huge impact on my musical life”.
Not wanting to let the heritage and importance of the brand fade away, Maxwell’s House of Music has stepped in and relocated Guitar Emporium into its own 12,500-foot facility. The result is a one-of-a-kind music experience.
“We felt lucky to have this chance, but we all know that luck is when hard work meets opportunity,” said Jeff McNicol co-owner of Maxwell’s House of Music. “We have put ourselves in position to nurture and carry this iconic brand into the future.”
