Hohner, Kala Veteran DeGaspari Passes Away

Rudi DeGaspari, who was instrumental in the founding of Kala Music Company, passed away on October 10, 2023. He was 78.

DeGaspari was born in Steiermark, Austria, and moved to Switzerland as a young adult with his band as a guitarist. In his early 20s, he and his band were recruited by an American ski resort to come to the U.S. to play music and teach ski lessons. In his 30s, DeGaspari began working for Hohner, which turned into a nearly 40-year career.

In 2005, DeGaspari played a significant role in the founding of Kala Music Company and was instrumental in overseeing the production of Kala’s ukuleles.
