Hit Like A Girl Announces Marching Percussion Contest Winners

Hit Like a Girl has named its winners of the 2020 Hit Like a Girl Marching Percussion contest. The winning drummers will receive prizes from the world’s top drum companies, including Ludwig, Pearl, Vic Firth, Vater, Innovative Percussion and Remo, as well as scholarships, educational material and other special awards from Girls March and GridBook Percussion.
The winners for the under-18 category are Katie McCarty (champion), Jovanna Mullin (second place), Jasmine Bowens (third place) and Destiny Boyd (honorable mention). For the 18-and-older category, the winners are Eliana Yamouni (champion), Paige Durr (second place), Aly “Chopz” Mendey (third place) and Rachelle Jovane (honorable mention).
The HLAG 2020 Marching Percussion contest judges panel featured leading artists and educators Sandi Rennick, Emmanuelle Caplette, Raychel Taylor, James Riles III, Mark Perrett and Nicole Casino, as well as former Hit Like A Girl Champion Jamese Moses. In a statement, Hit Like A Girl thanked GridBook Percussion for developing Hit Like A Girl’s exclusive, online scoring matrix.
