Hal Leonard Furloughs Over 150 Employees

Hal Leonard, the massive musical publishing company, has furloughed over 150 employees due to financial issues caused by the coronavirus.

Larry Morton, CEO of Hal Leonard, said that the company has taken other measures as well.

‘With thousands of music stores closed, along with schools, churches and other venues unable to perform music, we felt an immediate impact on our overall business and had to implement broad cost reduction measures including employee furloughs, salary reductions and many other expense cuts,” said Morton. “We’re looking forward to stores re-opening soon and we hope to bring back as many of our furloughed employees as possible.”

The company has also begun investing more into online channels with the release of its Hal Leonard Digital Books streaming platform, first announced in mid-April.
