Former Owner of Manny’s Music Passes Away
Henry Goldrich, former owner of now-shuttered Manny’s Music in New York, passed away on Feb. 16. He was 88 years old.
Henry’s father, Manny Goldrich, founded Manny’s Music in 1935 on NYC’s famed Music Row. Before Manny’s death in 1968, Henry took over ownership of the store which closed in 2009.
Playing a vital role in Manny’s world-renowned reputation, Henry has been credited with expanding the product line and promoting up-and-coming innovations, which created a strong celebrity customer base. He related stories of selling guitars and accessories to music icons such as Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan and hosting in-store clinics with the likes of Buddy Rich and Paul Simon.
