Drome Sound to Close After 55 Years
Drome Sound, a full-line retailer in Schenectady, New York, will be closing its doors after some 55 years in business. The store closing was first reported by local paper Times Union.
Drome Sound opened its doors in 1968, but current owners, Richard and Nancy Parks, told the news outlet they decided to close after struggling to draw in customers post-pandemic.
Richard Parks began working at the store in 1976, before taking a job at Guitar Center in the late 1990s. After 17 years with GC, including a stint as a district manager in Kansas City, he purchase the store from then-owner Tony Popolizio in 2015. The Parks told the newspaper they both plan to retire after the store closes.
