Fire Destroys D.R. Music Center
An early morning fire on July 2 destroyed four apartments and the entire brick-and-mortar location of D.R. Music Center in Vinton, Virginia. The store, which was owned by Donnie and Rhoda Wray, had been in business for 39 years and offered lessons, sales, band rentals and repairs. According to a report from the local NBC affiliate, the store lost about $100,000 worth of musical instruments in the fire.
The Wray’s put the following message on D.R. Music Center’s Facebook page after the fire:
“As we sit back and reflect on our day, we just wanted to say how thankful we are for the community support we received today. For the endless calls, texts and messages we can’t thank you all enough. While we are devastated for our families lost memories and our lifetime dream gone in a blink of an eye, we are extremely grateful that no injuries occurred.”
