Board-Certified Music Therapist Joins Remo
Arianna Monge has joined Remo as the rhythm and wellness brand manager.
“Following decades of spearheading research and supporting studies to identify and prove a connection between rhythm, drumming, and wellness, Remo is thrilled to welcome Arianna to our team,” said a statement from the company. “Arianna will oversee the task of connecting rhythm and wellness-based services to those who need it the most, and driving Remo’s Rhythm, Wellness, and You initiative. In the COVID-19 era, it has become increasingly critical to deliver services and assistance to a world so deeply affected by the pandemic and social [and] civil strife, and connecting people to the programs and support that seek to improve health, wellness and the human condition.”
Prior to the pandemic, Monge facilitated drum circles focusing on coping skills and recovery from substance abuse with men and women experiencing houselessness. As a MusicWorx clinical intern, Monge functioned as a member of an interdisciplinary team at Scripps Memorial Hospital to provide music therapy treatment to patients in oncology, palliative care, ICU and adults with various illness and injuries. As a medical music therapist, she aids patients in decreasing symptoms such as pain, anxiety, low mood, as well as augment their therapeutic goals in speech, physical and occupational recovery.
Monge has been active in moving from in-person facilitation to virtual telemedicine. She has experience in program development, implementation and facilitation via Zoom to provide support, socialization and group music making for medically fragile children in times of isolation. Monge also conducted a case study on the effects of caregiver engagement on client participation in music therapy telemedicine.
Monge replaces John Fitzgerald, who previously served Remo as the manager of recreational music activities and laid much of the foundation for Remo’s deep connection to recreational, health, and wellness-based drumming activities around the world.
