Tama has added to its lineup of Star Reserve snare drums with the Hand Hammered Aluminum snare. Tama first introduced the metal hammering technique with its Star Reserve Hand-Hammered Copper snare and then later branched out with the Hand-Hammered Brass model. This time, Tama has applied its time-tested Japanese boutique hand hammering method to its new aluminum-shelled Star Reserve model. The 6 1/2- by 14-inch shell is comprised of a 3-millimeter-thick piece of aluminum. The overall dimensions of the drum, combined with the shell material, supply a dramatic and complex sound. The low frequencies are extremely rich and the high end is powerful and present throughout the entire tuning range.
