Hal Leonard Retailer Program Adds Video

Hal Leonard has enhanced its Digital Retailer Program with video content. In addition to the current program, which lets music dealers offer sheet music on demand, retailers will now be able to sell downloadable and streaming video lessons to customers, as well.

The Digital Video Retailer Program lets music dealers profit through the Hal Leonard Web site, which features lessons in various music styles at all levels. This site provides more than 1,000 professionally filmed guitar and song lessons, as well as 2,000 full-band play-along tracks. The lessons start at $1.99 per download.

Like its existing sheet music counterpart, the Digital Video Retailer Program offers dealers three ways to participate. The Affiliate Program lets them place a link on their Web sites to and earn commissions on the sales that the click-throughs generate. The Online Digital Retailer Program, to be released later this year, will let dealers control the consumer sales process directly. The third option, also coming soon, is the In-Store Digital Retailer Program, where customers can purchase video lessons from brick-and-mortar locations.

“Retailers love the fact that by simply signing up for our digital retailer programs they can instantly have a fully loaded print department — and now a treasure trove of video and audio content,” said Doug Lady, senior vice president of sales for Hal Leonard. “More dealers than ever before are harnessing this cutting-edge, service-minded technology, and it’s our mission to provide them with the best tools to reach more musicians and make more sales.”
