Casio Chairman,
CEO Dies at 89

Kazuo Kashio, chairman and CEO of Casio Computer Co. Ltd., has died at age 89. Kashio passed away June 18 at a Tokyo hospital from aspiration pneumonia.

Kashio led the Casio management team for 27 years, overseeing the company's evolution from its foundations laid by former president Tadao Kashio.

Kashio, the third president of Casio and one of four Kashio brothers, founded the company in 1957 by developing the first compact all-electric calculator, 14-A. He also is credited with developing the Casio Mini personal calculator, QV-10 digital camera and G-Shock watch.
