Catalinbread Effects Founder Passes Away

Nicholas Harris, founder of Catalinbread Effects, died on March 9 after a tree fell on his car. He was 37 years old.

Harris founded Catalinbread Effects in 2003. The company is known for pushing the sound envelope with its pedals and not following the marketplace.

"We're not a market-driven company," Harris told Tone Report in 2014. "We don't take polls or host focus groups on what the marketplace thinks it wants. We don't inventory the competition to see how to build a better mousetrap than theirs. And we don't feel compelled to offer every effect type in our line, just to be a 'complete-line company.' Our primary focus is to make what we want for ourselves — gear that gets us excited and inspires us to play."
