Ovation Guitar Factory in Connecticut to Close

The Ovation guitar factory in New Hartford, Conn., is closing after 47 years.

Fender Music Instruments Corp., which owns Ovation guitars, will cease U.S. production by June, according to a report by the Republican-American of Waterbury. The company has cited “current market conditions and insufficient volume levels.”

Ovation guitars was created in 1966 by the Charles Kaman, founder of aerospace company Kaman Corp. Fender purchased the company from Kaman Music Corp. in 2007.
