Absolute Piano Destroyed in NYC Explosion

Absolute Piano was located within one of the two buildings in Harlem that collapsed after an explosion caused by a gas leak on Wednesday morning. At press time, The New York Times reported the explosion left seven people dead and five missing.

The six-story building and store, located at 1646 Park Ave., was owned by Kaoru Muramatsu. The adjacent building was owned by Spanish Christian Church.

"Due to a fire we are closed," the store's website read on Thursday morning. "Our hearts go out to all those affected by the event. We thank all the first responders for assisting in this unfortunate incident."

UPDATE 3:11 CST: The company confirmed on its Facebook page that all employees were safe: "Thank you everyone for your support and love. In response to countless emails and messages to Absolute Piano and our staff members I would like to confirm that all Absolute Piano staff are safe. Please keep the tenants and their families in your prayers as this tragedy continues to unfold."
