JUNE 14 I WOODSTOCK PERCUSSION I RECALL
Woodstock Shakers Get Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada recalled the Gripper Shaker, imported by Woodstock Percussion of Shokan, N.Y., on June 2 due to its detachable handle. When detached, the handle exposes a rough edge and poses a laceration hazard. Small steel pellets and a plastic plug also pose a choking hazard. No injuries have been reported.

The shakers, which are manufactured in China, had been sold through mail-order catalogs, websites and retail stores nationwide between August 2010 and March 2011 for about $5.

According to the CPSC, consumers should stop using the recalled product immediately unless otherwise instructed. They can also contact Woodstock Percussion for a $7 refund.

It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
