Musician's Friend Relocates to Southern California

On April 28, Guitar Center announced plans to relocate the operations of its Musician's Friend business to Southern California in early 2012. The exact location has not yet been announced. Musician's Friend will continue to operate at its current location in Medford, Ore., through the end of 2011.
"Our customers increasingly appreciate our ability to serve them across our various brands through every potential channel — in-store, online, or from a smartphone or call center," said Greg Trojan, CEO of Guitar Center. "This relocation will enable us to have our e-commerce experts working side-by-side with our retail experts for the benefit of our customers."

Facilities operated by Musician's Friend in Salt Lake City and Kansas City, Mo., will be unaffected by the relocation. 

Musician's Friend currently employs roughly 225 staff at its Medford facility. According to a statement from the organization, it plans to offer some associates the opportunity to move to Southern California. Associates who choose not to move or are not offered the opportunity to move will be given retention packages and severance payments.
