Alta Loma Gets
Jazzed & ‘Glee’-ful

Alta Loma Music expanded its music lessons program this past summer. Along with hosting its 31st Rock Project and third Young Musicians Symphony, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based full-line retailer also added two new initiatives: Jazz Express and Singers Spotlight.

Jazz Express was designed to help jazz musicians with their improv and composition skills. It featured three different levels of combos for elementary, junior high and high school musicians. Each group wrote and recorded an original song and performed at the Rock Project Concert on Aug. 1 at the TLC Amphitheater in Corona, Calif.

Singers Spotlight featured three groups that Alta Loma Music owner Pete Gamber described as “Glee”-style ensembles. The program aimed to teach student vocalists stage presence and performance in a group setting. Each group performed at the Young Musicians Symphony Concert on July 25 at The Mabel Shaw Bridges Hall of Music at Pomona College in Claremont, Calif.

“This was the most diverse and fun offering of programs in Alta Loma Music’s 32-year history,” said Genett Gamber, coordinator of Alta Loma Music’s lesson programs. “We had more positive feedback from the students, parents and our teaching staff than ever before.”
