JUNE 2 I PARRISH MUSIC I EVENT
Parrish Music Creates Island Paradise

The small town of Viroqua, Wis., got to sample big island life at Parrish Music, which hosted a Hawaiian Festival on May 22. The festival featured two workshops and a concert of traditional Hawaiian music and dance.

Kumu Hula (master hula teacher) Lanialoha Lee came from Chicago to teach workshops in ukulele and hula kahiko (ancient hula). The workshops were followed by a Hawaiian music concert and dance featuring Lani and her group, Kupono.

“The workshops were a great success with very enthusiastic participants,” said Ted Parrish, owner of Parrish Music. “We had 11 people in the workshops and 35 for the concert. Those numbers don’t sound too impressive, but they were good for our first event. We are building on this event with a new monthly ukulele club here at the store, and we’ll be bringing Lani back in the fall.”

The store featured Lanikai and Kala ukuleles for the event and sold five ukuleles that day.
