JUNE 8 I HAL LEONARD I DISTRIBUTION
Hal Leonard Gets
Auto-Tuned

Hal Leonard has added pitch-correction software to its growing list of audio tools through a distribution deal with Antares on June 1. Antares, a Scotts Valley, Calif.- based company, was founded in 1990 as Jupiter Systems by geophysicist and inventor Dr. Harold Hildebrand. The company develops digital signal processing-based audio hardware and software products, such as Auto-Tune.

In 1997, Hildebrand developed Auto-Tune to correct pitch problems in vocals and other solo instruments. Today, it has become a popular vocal effect in pop and R&B songs.

“Auto-Tune is a truly iconic product that has reshaped the sound of contemporary music,” said David Jahnke, Hal Leonard’s vice president of national sales. “The Antares line is a fine complement to our growing catalog of software and technology products. We’re excited to provide music retailers easy access to this great-selling software.”
