Gand Music Adds Distribution Venture

Full-line retailer Gand Music & Sound of Northfield, Ill., has expanded into the music distribution business with the formation of Grand Music Distribution (GMD).

Co-owner Joan Gand, who plays the organ with rhythm and blues band Blue Road, was in search of a portable B3 sound when she discovered the German-made Neo Ventilator pedal. She decided to start GMD to rep the Ventilator for the United States and Canada. The pedal simulates a rotating organ speaker sound without the need to haul a Leslie speaker and pre-amp around.

“Just when the industry has given up searching for the next big thing, Neo comes out with the Ventilator,” said Gand, who now serves as GMD president.

“Most simulators sound square,” said B3 organ player Dr. Lonnie Smith. “This one sounds round. It’s the best thing I’ve heard next to the real deal.”
