APRIL 9 I SHOWS I NAMM
NAMM Opens Show to Musicians, Teachers
In an effort to strengthen Summer NAMM attendance in Nashville, Tenn., NAMM will open its show floor to the public on Sunday, June 20. Called Wanna Play Music Sunday, NAMM is encouraging its members to invite music students, parents, music advocates and enthusiasts to see product demonstrations, watch musical performances, attend workshops and talk with music products industry leaders.
Currently scheduled Wanna Play Music Sunday workshops include: How to Get More Gigs, Effects 101, Techniques to Hook up Your Gear, Recording Tips and Tricks, and How to Get Endorsed.
The event will also feature drumming competitions, free guitar setups and restringing, and a vintage guitar roadshow where used instruments will be appraised by professionals. Although no sales from the floor will be permitted, NAMM executives said they hope the Sunday event will generate excitement for playing music and stimulate demand for new products.
Interested Wanna Play Sunday attendees can visit NAMM member retail stores to receive 50-percent-off discount coupons that can be use when ordering tickets online at namm.org/wannaplaysunday. NAMM members can visit the NAMM Web site and print out these discount coupons to give to inquiring customers. Proceeds from Wanna Play Music Sunday will support music education through the Wanna Play Fund.
The NAMM Foundation will also invite music teachers from the greater Nashville area to attend Music Education Days during Summer NAMM, as well. MI
