The Music Distributors Association (MDA) and the National Association of School Music Dealers (NASMD) recently joined forces for their annual conventions. The two events were held simultaneously at the Marriott Resort and Spa in Hilton Head, S.C., from March 24–27.

Each organization followed its own agenda, including the election of officers for NASMD and the installation of Universal Percussion President Tom Shelley as the new MDA president. The two organizations shared joint educational sessions.

“We partnered with the NASMD for this year’s convention because we wanted to offer our members the opportunity to take advantage of that organization’s great educational presentations, as well as the chance to network with key suppliers and dealers who are NASMD members,” Shelley said. “Our business has always been a challenging one, and that’s the case now more than ever. But by working together, we can pool our experience, our imagination and our determination in order to overcome those challenges.” MI
