for iPad Launch

This past weekend marked the official release of the Apple iPad. The Wall Street Journal reported on April 5 that approximately 300,000 units were sold, including preorders, and music suppliers have jumped on the new technology. This week, Korg and IK Multimedia announced new apps for the tablet-style computers.

Korg’s iPad app, the Korg iElectribe virtual analog beatbox, recreates Electribe-R’s entire sound engine, including analog synthesis modeling and PCM synthesis, along with virtual valve force tube modeling. The master effect processor provides eight enhanced effect types. The iElectribe is available from Apple’s App Store. Its regular price will be $19.99, but a special introductory $9.99 price is being offered until June 30.

IK Multimedia has adapted its GrooveMaker range of remixing apps for the iPad format, as well. Users can now switch snapped grooves with a single touch, plus control the number of loops that are automatically combined during a random mix.
 
IK Multimedia offers four GrooveMaker packs for the iPad. The free version includes a 120-loop pack with a mix of House and Hip-Hop packages. The House, Hip-Hop and D’n’B (Drum and Bass) packs contain more than 300 loops each. The Groovemaker packs are $9.99 each at iTunes App Store. MI
