JAN. 26 I HAL LEONARD I DISTRIBUTION
Hal Leonard Adds Avid

Hal Leonard announced at a Jan. 15 press conference that it will distribute select Avid audio solutions in North America.

The deal includes Pro Tools digital audio workstations, Sibelius music composition software, M-Audio Axiom Pro USB MIDI keyboard controllers and Fast Track audio interfaces.

“We evaluated a number of distributors in MI,” said Eli Kalil, senior director of Avid’s worldwide channel partner program. “We feel [Hal Leonard] will be able to take our solutions, which are clearly focused in the MI and the audio space, and drive them with their sheet music, bundling it and offering some real value-added solutions to their dealers.”

Hal Leonard and Avid’s first affiliation was through Sibelius, a music notation software for composers and educators, which Hal Leonard began distributing in 2001. Avid acquired Sibelius in 2006.

“We are always looking for new customers, and what Hal Leonard brings to the table is a huge customer base Avid has never done business with,” said Tim Carroll, vice president of worldwide audio programs. “There’s a lot of our products that fit into the consumer and educational industry. It’s a really good fit.” MI
