Vater Visits High School

Vater Percussion recently sent Xavier Muriel, drummer for Buckcherry, to Weymouth High School in Weymouth, Mass., as a guest speaker for the school’s music students.

Muriel spoke to more than 60 students about his personal background, the history of Buckcherry, life on the road, his influences and his dreams when he was a high school music student. He also answered questions and signed autographs.

“Xavier Muriel was by far the most compelling guest speaker we’ve had at Weymouth High School, in many ways,” said John Duff, director of bands at Weymouth. “His session explained the challenges and successes of his time in the music industry. He was well-spoken, professional and had a very positive message for the kids.”

The Xavier Muriel session at Weymouth High School is part of Vater’s ongoing involvement with the school in memory of Jeffrey Phillips, who passed away July 24. Phillips was an employee of Vater for 10 years and graduated from Weymouth in 1996.
