SEPT. 15 I BALDWIN I TRIBUTE
Lucien Wulsin III Remembered
Lucien Wulsin III, the past president of the Baldwin Piano, passed away on Aug. 23. He was 92.
Wulsin’s grandfather was taught the piano business by D.W. Baldwin, founder of Baldwin Piano. Wulsin carried on the family tradition and served as president of Baldwin Piano during the 1960s, when the piano business had to compete with the rising popularity of the home organ. Wulsin created company goals to seek new markets, and under his leadership, Baldwin Piano sold more pianos to public schools than any other company at that time.
In addition to serving as the chairman of Baldwin Piano and Organ, Wulsin served as a trustee of the Colorado Arts Council, board member of National Public Radio and the National Council on Arts & Humanities, chairman of the board of trustees of University of Denver, founder of Society for Creative Aging, and trustee and chairman of the board of trustees of Naropa University in Boulder, Colo.
