AUG. 24 I U.S. MUSIC CORP. I MANAGEMENT
Schlacher Says Farewell
In a letter submitted to the press on Aug. 24, Rudy Schlacher, founder and CEO of U.S. Music Corp. reflected on his career and his decision to sell his company.
Dear Friends,
It is with a certain amount of sadness that I inform you that my journey as owner of U.S. Music Corp. is coming to an end. It has been a great ride for nearly 40 years. Over the years, I saw the world and our business change. The transistor gave way to the micro chip, and the Beatles where replaced by rap. I saw music companies rise and fall, and witnessed first hand all these challenges confronting my own firm.
My work at U.S. Music gave me the opportunity to accomplish some of my dreams and goals. Starting from modest beginnings, I can look back at many accomplishments that I can be proud of. I gave it my best effort. It is important to know that I would not have been successful if it were not for all of you. Thank you all for helping me along the way.
There comes a time in everyone’s life when you have to decide when to stop doing what you have been doing and take advantage of ones’ remaining years. With this in mind, I have decided to sell U.S. Music Corp. to Jam Industries. Jam Industries has been a partner with U.S. Music for more than 20 years. They have had a long and successful history in the music industry. Marty Golden, chairman of Jam Industries, which is based in Canada, is committed to continuing my life’s work and to strengthening and growing our already very successful brands.
I will continue to help the company in many areas to assure a successful and seamless transition. I look forward to seeing you at some future trade shows or factory visits.
I want to thank all of the wonderful people I have met along the way who made it possible to enjoy 40 years in this incredible industry.
Again, thank you for sharing the journey with me.
Rudy
