OCT. 23 I MERIDIAN WINDS I OPENING
Meridian Moves
Meridian Winds recently relocated from Haslett, Mich., to a 3,500-square-foot store in Okemos.
The space features new hardwood floors and a convenient location, a short drive from the University of Michigan, the University of Western Michigan and Michigan State University.
“We cater to a discerning clientele, and there are a lot of people who want special attention for their instruments or when they’re buying instruments,” said Meridian
Winds owner Eric Satterlee. “There’s a big void in the mid-Michigan area for that. We just wanted to have a place where wind players could feel at home.”
The store features antique photos of bands on the walls. “People walk in and ask, ‘Is this an antique store or a music store?’” Satterlee said.
“The reed and mouthpiece display in his store sets the standard for every other band and orchestral retailer for its aesthetics and comprehensive selection,” said Steve Baughman, an account manager with Dansr, one of Meridian Winds’ suppliers. MI
