HAL LEONARD I DISTRIBUTION, AWARDS
Hal’s New Deals

Hal Leonard made multiple distribution deals this fall, most recently with the Beijing-based People’s Music Publishing House. The deal was announced at the Music China 2008 convention in Shanghai, held from Oct. 9–12.

Under the agreement, the newly formed company will translate Hal Leonard’s flagship publications into Mandarin and create publications specifically geared to the Chinese music market. Sales, marketing and distribution will be managed by People’s Music in close consultation with Rick Fuhry, vice president of international sales for Hal Leonard.

U.S. Deals:
Hal Leonard has also signed an exclusive deal with Boulder, Colo.-based Allegro Multimedia to distribute the company’s Piano Wizard Premier software to music instrument dealers. Another distribution deal was made with Glen Allen, Va.-based Hohner USA. Hal Leonard will distribute Hohner harmonicas in unique packaging to its customer base.

Community Honors:
In addition to distribution deals, Hal Leonard was honored as one of the 2008 Wisconsin 75 companies named by the Milwaukee accounting firm Deloitte & Touche.

Hal Leonard was the sole winner in the community category for Deloitte’s Distinguished Performer awards. Keith Mardak, the company’s chairman and CEO, accepted the award.

“We are delighted to be recognized as a leading Wisconsin company and to be singled out for our contributions to our community,” Mardak said.

The company received the award for launching the Hal Leonard Young Musicians Program in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and for aiding a number of other youth outreach programs in the Milwaukee area. MI
