Comptroller’s Office Closes Holze Music’s Stores

The State Comptroller’s Office has closed Holze Music’s Texas locations in Waco, Temple and Killeen, according to an April 14 article in the Waco Tribune-Herald. Holze Music owner Rob Gibson said the closings were due to late payments on sales taxes.

The comptroller’s office cancelled the company’s sales tax permit in early April, effectively suspending store operations. It said it seized cash, but Holze Music still had a liability of $151,442 to pay.

In the article, Gibson said his stores are still taking inventory but cannot sell merchandise that requires a sales tax until the situation is resolved. He’s currently pursuing a loan that should ease his cash-flow problems. He also said he’d thought the loan transaction would have closed in the second week of April. When it didn’t, his efforts to keep the central Texas locations open were derailed. Gibson plans to get the stores reopened as soon as possible.

Holze Music sells band and orchestral instruments with a focus on student rentals, and has other locations in Bryan, Dallas, Frisco, Houston, Lewisville, Plano and Round Rock.
