MARCH 5 I THE CAVANAUGH CO. I APPOINTMENT
Cavanaugh to Lead Cavanaugh Co.

The Cavanaugh Co. has named Jim Cavanaugh company president. The 33-year-old Cavanaugh is taking over for his father, John Cavanaugh, who will become the chairman of the Sarasota, Fla.,-based company.

The Cavanaugh Co. is the parent company of industry brands, such as Red Label Strings, Super-Sensitive Strings, Black Diamond Strings and Bari Reeds and Mouthpieces.

“I look forward to continuing my father’s legacy and leading our business into even greater ventures,” Jim said.

In 1997, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Florida State University (FSU). During summers, he worked at his father’s company as a machinist where he made Super-Sensitive orchestra strings. While in college, he also co-opted at Midco, a MI distributor in Effingham, Ill.

Upon graduation from FSU, and while working on a machinist degree from the Sarasota County Technical Institute, Cavanaugh joined the Cavanaugh Co. as its vice-president. He directly oversaw the company’s acquisitions of Black Diamond Strings and Bari Woodwind Supply. He also spearheaded the company’s use of automated string winders, which increased production and quality.
