SEPT. 17 | HAL LEONARD | DISTRIBUTION
Hal Leonard’s Two-Fold Expansion

Hal Leonard has recently grown in multiple directions, adding new SKUs to its distribution roster and expanding its own facilities.

On Aug. 15, the company broke ground on a 12-acre parcel of land in Winona, Minn., for a new state-of-the-art distribution center. Scheduled to be running by May 2008, the new facility will add 165,000 square feet to the company, with the capacity to expand to 300,000 square feet. Hal Leonard will then dispense with the leased space, and end up with more than 400,000 square feet of owned facilities.

“This expansion couldn’t come at a better time for us,” said Hal Leonard President Larry Morton. “On top of our own aggressive publishing, our recent acquisitions and distribution deals have added tens of thousands of SKUs to our system. This new space will give us more breathing room.”

One of the more prestigious SKUs to be added to Hal Leonard’s U.S. distribution is the Munich, Germany-based music publisher G. Henle Verlag, effective Oct. 1. The agreement was reached by Morton and Dr. Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, managing director and CEO of Henle.

Henle publications are highly regarded for their research of the composers’ manuscripts, proofs, first editions and other relevant sources.
