AUG. 24 | YAMAHA, ROGERS | ACQUISITION
Yamaha Acquires Rights to Rogers

As a result of Brook Mays Music Co.'s liquidation, Yamaha Corp. of America has acquired the intellectual property rights to Rogers Drum Co.

Rogers was originally founded in 1849, but it built its legacy throughout the second half of the last century through products like the Dyna-Sonic snare drum and Swiv-O-Matic foot pedal, and through endorsers like Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson.

Brook Mays eventually bought the name, and it had been using the name on imported, value-priced drum kits. As such, distribution was limited under the Brook Mays umbrella. Yamaha plans to make Rogers products available to its drum dealers nationwide.

“Opportunities to acquire a well-respected brand that is so treasured by players do not come along everyday,” said Tom Sumner, vice president and general manager for Yamaha's Pro Audio & Combo Division. “We are confident that we will extend the reach of the Rogers brand, which is remembered and respected by drummers around the world. Our distribution network is perfectly suited to accomplish this expansion.”
